Adelaide directors Michael and Danny Philippou’s film features in video game Fortnite

They’re already YouTube sensations and have just released their first feature film, but Adelaide’s RackaRacka twins have now created history in the video game world.

Adelaide directors Michael and Danny Philippou’s first feature film has become the first horror movie to be featured on the widely popular video game Fortnite globally.

The special ‘Talk to Me’ gaming event was launched on ‘Deadpines: Zombie Survival’ map last week where players are faced with a fight against a horde of endless zombies.

The map features supernatural elements from the horror thriller, including the embalmed hand and the seance room, which have helped make the film famous.

Altitude Films launched the takeover and it is expected to be played hundreds of thousands of times on consoles around the world.

“We’ve been cooking up something big for #TalkToMe in @FortniteGame,” Altitude Films posted to Twitter.

“Immerse yourself in the world of Danny and Michael Philippou’s terrifying debut in

@DeadpinesFN.”

This version of the game is only available for a short time only, with the takeover ending on August 13.

The latest development comes as the film finally hit theatres worldwide on Friday.

And the twins, who created the RackaRacka YouTube channel, are setting the bar high with Michael posting a picture to social media indicating they are ready to compete at the box office with massive global hits Barbie and Oppenheimer.

“Forcing ourselves into the conversation. Talk To Me out worldwide THIS WEEK!!!” the post read.

“If you can support us pls do. We are against Oppenheimer and Barbie”

The film hit theatres in Australia on Thursday before a global release on Friday.

The movie was made on a budget of $4.5m and already has a 96 per cent approval rate from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

New York City based film company A24 – who recorded a movie studio high 18 Oscar nominations this year – bought the North American rights to the film.
