A Magill dad has just won $2.85m in the Saturday X Lotto draw after purchasing a ticket at Star Discount Chemist in Magill.
He was one of seven division one winning entries in Saturday’s national draw, however he didn’t believe his own good fortune, doubting the news when he found out.
“I checked the ticket on Sunday and, oh boy, I had no sleep,” he said.
“The thought that it might not be true kept replaying in my head, and I just couldn’t sleep.
“I had to go claim the prize as soon as possible to make sure I wasn’t dreaming.
“I wasn’t one hundred per cent sure if it was division one.”
The Adelaide dad said since claiming his prize he has had a better night’s sleep.
“I told a few people here and there, some took a little bit of convincing but they’re really happy for my family,” he said.
Plans for the prize money include installing a pool in the family backyard for his children who have wanted one for a long time.
“It’s nearly winter, but at least they’ll have something to look forward to next year,” he said.
His total take-home prize came to $2,857,159.66.
The Star Discount Chemist in Magill said they were overjoyed to have sold a winning entry to a local family.
The winning numbers in the Saturday X Lotto draw 4451 on March 16 were 3, 17, 28, 35, 40 and 44, while the supplementary numbers were 26 and 33.
Across Australia, there were seven division one winning entries, including three in New South Wales, two in Victoria, one in Queensland and one in South Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 310 this year, 24 of which were won by SA Lotteries customers.
