Modbury work syndicate split $535,000 win after lucky X Lotto ticket scores on Saturday

A lucky group of workers from the northeastern suburbs have spent the weekend planning where to spend their slice of a Lotto win.

A group of workers from Adelaide’s northeastern suburbs have each won a slice of Saturday’s X Lotto draw after hitting the jackpot.

The 27 individuals, who work in Modbury, will walk away with an even split of the $535,000 – just under $20,000 each.

The winning QuickPick ticket was bought from Plaza Newsagency in Tea Tree Plaza.

“Woo-hoo! How good!,” one of the winner’s said.

“I checked the results on Saturday night, and I couldn’t believe it. I said out loud, ‘No! That can’t be!’.”

The Modbury syndicate started last June, with each member putting in $10 a month to be split evenly between QuickPick ticket entries in the major lotteries.

“We usually put our monthly winnings into a tin and at the end of the year we divide it and do something fun as a group but now we will be able to enjoy a share of the prize,” the syndicate spokesperson said.

“Someone in the crew is about the have a baby and we have some young ones who are looking to buy their first homes.

“It’s funny, because I turned to another colleague earlier this month and I said, ‘God, I have to go buy another X Lotto entry. It’s like a part-time job’.”

The lucky group, who want to remain anonymous, continues the winning streak for SA lotto players in the past few months, bringing the total to 22 winning tickets.

A Northgate grandmother became an overnight millionaire last week with an X Lotto win.

Two SA groups won $4m at the start of the month, with one Adelaide dad and a 15-person Berri syndicate taking home the prize.

A Somerton Park man won $10.6m on Powerball in March, while a Whyalla man won $1.8m a week prior in the Saturday Lotto.
