A 83-year-old Moonta Bay man to face court for dangerous driving after crashing his campervan

A Moonta Bay man will face court after his campervan collided with a parked car, causing both vehicles to smash on to Port Hughes beach.

A man will face court over a two-car crash at Port Hughes on Sunday night that saw two vehicles smash on to Port Hughes beach.

Police said Yorke Mid North Highway Patrol attended Minnie Terrace at about 8.30pm on Sunday, after reports two cars had collided.

Police allege the campervan veered off the road out of control before colliding with an unattended Holden sedan.

The collision caused both vehicles to go over a retaining wall, landing on Port Hughes beach.

The had to be removed from the sand by a crane.

The driver of the caravan, an 83-year-old man from Moonta Bay, was treated for minor injuries in hospital.

He was later reported for dangerous driving and had his licence immediately disqualified for twelve months.

The 83-year-old will appear at the Kadina Magistrates Court at a later date.

Police say they are also awaiting the results of a blood-alcohol test from the driver.
