About 12.30am Sunday, police and CFS were called to Plains Rd at Aldinga after a teenager reported his car on fire.
The driver allegedly told police the engine of his Ford ute had overheated, however when emergency services arrived, the rear of the car was engulfed in flames.
Police believe the driver had popped his rear tyres doing a “burn out” and attempted to drive home on the rims, which caused the car to catch fire.
The driver was breath tested at the scene and allegedly blew 0.134.
