A 21-year-old man has made a lucky escape after his luxury car smashed into a tree and burst into flames in Adelaide’s west in the early hours of Friday.
Emergency services were called to Bartley Tce at Semaphore Park after reports an Audi sedan that had been travelling south lost control and hit a tree at 3.45am.
The force of the collision brought the tree down across the road and the engine bay of the Audi burst into flames.
Metropolitan Fire Service crews worked on clearing the debris while patrols spoke to the young driver from West Lakes Shore.
He allegedly returned a positive breath test of .149, almost three times the legal limit, and was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Blood alcohol tests will be conducted in hospital.
The Audi was towed from the scene and pending the blood test results the man may be reported for drink driving and face court at a later date.
