14-year-old girl among three arrested after two cars stolen

Three teen girls, including a 14-year-old, have been arrested for allegedly stealing cars as police tracked down one of the suspects hiding under a rainwater tank.

A 14-year-old girl from Christies Beach was among three teenage females arrested after two stolen cars were found in the northeastern suburbs in the early hours of Monday morning.

A police dog tracked down two females hiding in the front yard of a home and the third was found under a rainwater tank after 4am on Monday.

They discovered an abandoned Mitsubishi Outlander with minor crash damage and the engine running in Gilles Plains.

Police also found a grey Toyota Camry, belonging to the same owner, parked obscurely on Alexander Ave at Campbelltown with its lights left on.

An 18-year-old woman from Glandore, an 18-year-old from Windsor Gardens and a 14-year old Christies Beach girl were arrested and are expected to be charged with serious criminal trespass and illegal use.

The cars were towed from the scene as police begin forensic examinations later on Monday.

Meantime, police are investigating a break-in at a Golden Grove primary school after they were called to Bicentennial Drive following an alarm just before 2am.

Police found a smashed window to a classroom building after arriving on the scene.

The offenders also gained access to the gymnasium where they allegedly stole the fire extinguishers and let them off in a kitchen.

They allegedly smashed the window leading to the kitchen, threw food around and ransacked the room.

Police discovered the remnants of a fire as it appears the offenders tried to set cardboard alight.

The offenders could not be found after dog operations were called in.

Police are appealing for anyone to come forward with information to help the investigation.
