Earlier, emergency crews responded to reports of two vehicles stranded in floodwaters in the Wide Bay region on Saturday morning.

Police said the first callout came at 6.19am near Bauple-Woolooga Rd and Netherby Rd, close to Gutchy Creek Bridge at Gootchie.

A man in his 60s was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

A police spokesman said the water was not fast-flowing, and the man was stuck rather than being swept away.

Shortly after, around 7.30am, emergency services were alerted to another vehicle trapped in floodwaters in Kia Ora, within the Gympie region.

Initial reports indicated two people were stranded on the roof of their car on Radtke Rd.

Queensland Police were first on the scene and assisted the pair, who were able to make their way to safety.

They were taken to a nearby town hall for assessment by QAS but reportedly sustained no injuries.

The incidents followed a night of heavy rain that triggered flash flooding across the Wide Bay region.
