The family of a young man, who tragically died in a crash on the Bruce Highway at Canoona, north of Rockhampton, has remembered him as “the beautiful man he was”.
It comes as his heartbroken mother reveals he was suffering mental health distress at the time.
Jaiden Fraser, who had been working as a labourer on the Sunshine Coast, was driving a blue 2010 Holden Commodore northbound on the highway on September 11 about 10am before it left the road, crashed into trees and rolled.
Sadly, the 25-year-old was declared dead at the scene.
Speaking to this publication on Wednesday, Jaiden’s mother, Paganne Kupfer, said her son was lovely and beautiful and she would remember his “cheeky attitude”.
“He was a s– t stirrer,” she said.
“He was always s– t stirring everyone. He liked playing jokes and pranks.”
While police confirmed on Wednesday the Forensic Crash Unit was continuing investigations into the crash, his mother revealed she believed her son may have taken his own life.
She said he had been working in demolition at Yandina and travelled up to Rockhampton and was “in a sort of psychosis” leading up to the fatal accident.
“He was only home for the night,” she said.
“He was thinking of relocating back home.”
Jaiden leaves behind a brother, two sisters, and a niece and nephew.
Jaiden’s funeral will be held on September 29, with the venue to be announced.
Any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam or CCTV footage have been urged to contact Policelink on 131 444.
On the same day Jaiden died, 21-year-old Joel Weeks was killed and two others injured after a Toyota HiLux rolled at Valentine Plains, east of Biloela.
Police said the crash happened on September 11 about 6pm along Lake Callide Dr.
The Thangool man was taken to Biloela Hospital, where he was declared dead.
The two passengers in the vehicle, an 18-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl, sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
Both women have since been released.
