A teenage driver is lucky to be alive after crashing her car at more than 100km/h into an abandoned sedan which was parked ‘horizontally across the left lane’ of the Bruce Highway.

Jaida Pou, 17, was travelling from a friend’s house in Nambour to her home in Caboolture at around 1.40am on Saturday, July 12 when she crashed into the empty car — at full speed — on a dark section of the highway.

“The car just came out of nowhere and it was too late to stop so I just crashed into it going at least 100km an hour,” Ms Pou said.

She said the car was not off to the side of the road, but parked horizontally across the left lane close to the Big Fish exit.

“I grabbed my phone and Life360 was setting off the SOS emergency thing so it automatically took me to ambulance and police … I tried calling my dad but couldn’t because I was too weak,” Ms Pou said.

Ms Pou said she drifted in and out of consciousness, too weak to open her door and move.

She woke up to a bystander shaking her lightly awake before police and fire trucks arrived.

“An officer came and she comforted me until the ambulance arrived … they think the car was stolen and just dumped there,” Ms Pou said.

Ms Pou’s wrist was broken in the crash and she suffered whiplash and a seatbelt rash around her entire stomach.

She was taken to hospital and stayed for almost eight hours before being returned home to the care of her dad.

Her mother, Mika Pou, said her daughter was lucky to be alive.

Ms Pou said she was helped by two men before emergency services arrived, one of whom kept her awake.

“I don’t know his name, but I’d like to know his name but I’d like to find him,” Ms Pou said.

“I would like to say thank you so, so much.”

Ms Pou said she wants to catch the people who left the car on the road.

Mika Pou made a post to Facebook chasing dashcam footage of a dark blue car travelling south between the Sunshine Coast and Caboolture.

“These buggers need and will be held accountable,” Mika Pou wrote.

“This could have cost her her life. We are counting our absolute blessings!”

Ms Pou said there were skid marks visible on the highway.
