Five patients assessed in three-vehicle crash at Caloundra

A hang glider pilot is awaiting rescue by emergency services after they became stuck in a tree on the Sunshine Coast.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the pilot was stuck in the tree down an embankment near Balmoral Rd in Montville.

Emergency crews received the call about 3.45pm on Friday.

Paramedics have yet to fully assess the patient but they appear to be uninjured, based off conversation, the spokesman said.

Five involved in three-vehicle crash on suburban road

Emergency services were called to a suburb on the southern end of the Sunshine Coast following reports of a crash.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said paramedics received a report at 2.38pm of a three-vehicle crash that occurred at Bowman Rd in Caloundra.

Five patients were assessed by paramedics but only one suffered minor injuries and was taken to Sunshine Coast Hospital University, the spokesman said.

The remaining patients were not injured.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said officers were called to the scene and were ensuring parties involved would exchange contact information but no traffic was affected.

Pair charged after police track allegedly stolen car on Bruce Hwy

Two people are in police custody after allegedly being tracked to the Noosa shire in a stolen vehicle.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said officers identified the allegedly stolen car travelling on the Bruce Hwy at Nambour about 7.30am on Thursday.

The spokeswoman said police tracked the Toyota Corolla to a car park on Poinciana Ave at Tewantin with the help of Polair.

The driver and a passenger, a man and a woman, were arrested at the scene.

Police have charged a 23-year-old Pimpama woman with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, fraud.

She is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on April 4.

A 24-year-old Nambour man has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing, receiving tainted property, possessing counterfeit money, unlawful possession of weapons, authority required to possess explosives.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said he was refused police bail and is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday, March 21.

Tuesday – Man fighting for life after fall from ladder

A man in his 70s has been rushed to hospital with potentially life threatening head injuries after falling from a ladder.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics were called to a residence in Black Mountain on Wednesday, March 19.

The man reportedly fell from a ladder at some height and suffered severe head injuries.

The man was taken to Sunshine Coast University hospital.

Evacuation as blaze threatens CBD shop

At least three people have been evacuated after a blaze in a business in Caloundra’s CBD.

Emergency services were called to the retail shop on Bulcock St about 5.05pm on Tuesday, March 18, to reports of fire and smoke.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said three crews attended alongside police and paramedics and had the fire under control by 5.25pm.

“Crews have removed some burned product from the shop, and a primary search is complete,” the spokesman said.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said three people were assessed on scene, but no injuries were reported.

Queensland Police told this publication it was too early to determine whether the fire was suspicious or not.
