Emergency crews called to three-vehicle Bruce Highway crash at Koumala
Emergency crews have rushed to free a person after they became trapped in a three-vehicle crash that blocked the Bruce Hwy, with one car coming to rest on a train line.

A person was trapped following a three-vehicle crash that blocked the Bruce Highway in both directions south of Mackay.
The collision occurred about 9.40am between Sarina and Koumala, near the Muller Rd cross street, with multiple emergency crews on scene.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said a person was trapped inside one of the vehicles with back injuries as fire crews worked on freeing them.
A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said fire crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the person, who was stuck because of the position of the vehicle. The person was free and handed over to paramedics by 10.25am.
The spokeswoman said one of the vehicles came to rest on nearby train lines and there were further reports two of the vehicle had been smoking but there had been no flames when fire crews arrived on scene.
Paramedics were also dealing with four other people, he said.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the highway was blocked in both directions, but it has since been reopened.
Five people, including two women, were taken to Mackay Base Hospital in stable conditions.
