Annastacia Palaszczuk has launched a 369-day election campaign – but it seems many have already seen enough.
In an unusual campaign pitch 12 months before the state heads to the polls, the Premier voiced and released a high-production, taxpayer-funded video trumpeting the government’s achievements and asking voters to give her a fourth term.
In it, the Premier insists she has “a lot more to do” in the top job, amid leadership rumblings and polling putting Labor on track to lose the election.
She pledges not to “give in”, despite previous polling putting Labor on track to lose the next election.
“We are building a better Queensland one the world is only just discovering; let’s keep going as our best days are still ahead of us,” she said.
A spokesman for the Premier said the video was produced internally “with no added expense to taxpayers”.
The Premier, 54 and approaching nine years in the top job and now asking voters for another four, said she continued to draw strength from everyone “who stops me with a kind word” and their “show of support on social media”.
The three-minute video centres on Ms Palaszczuk’s longevity and experience as Premier since 2015.
It also reiterates her leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic, which secured Labor a third election victory in 2020, with an increased majority.
However many readers were quick to express their hope that Ms Palaszczuk isn’t elected again in 2024.

Maxwell added: “It is time for the worst state government in Qld history to be dumped.”
However she did get some support from those unsure about her political rivals.
“Anna v Crissafulli, Anna will walk in,” Rob wrote.
The Premier’s pitch to voters one year from the state election came on the same day Opposition Leader David Crisafulli released his “Right Priorities” blueprint, which will anchor the LNP’s campaign to win government for the first time since 2012.

Anna’s time is up

Sorry Anna. we can’t trust you. Certainly you’ve given us reasons not to with your lack of attention to what’s going on in communities with housing shortages, cost of living, treaty backflips, youth justice & health services crisis. You think you do, but you don’t! You’re gonna need more than a fancy video, red lipstick and colourful dresses to win back trust of Qlders and power.
Stan
She has to be kidding. Out the door in 24.

Out-of-touch-Anna. Glossy graphics. Selective content. Should have had background music playing “You’re so vain. You think this State is about you …”
Maxwell
It is time for the worst state government in Qld history to be dumped.

What a load of more lies, BS and spin by the Queen of Lies and Spin. This woman can’t lie straight in bed. More money wasted by our all talk no action Premier. If only she would try listening to Qlders instead of her hundreds of overpaid hopeless spin doctors?
Anna’s going nowhere

AP will be very difficult to oust. She has buried herself in like a Qld cattle tick. Just about everything has been politicised. The electoral laws have been stacked against the LNP and minor parties. The unions get a free ride. She uses Qld taxpayers money for political purposes and an army of spinmeisters. Just look at this ad. The LNP will need a tyre leaver to get her out.
Peter
Just rearranging the deck chairs
Danny
stop wasting taxpayers money and do something about youth crime!!!
rob
Anna v Crissafulli, Anna will walk in.
Hang on, what?!
Ian
Why are we paying for it. Surely the unions which control her should be paying not the tax payer.
Sharyn
Poor Queenslanders having to put up with this for the next year.
Antony
Blatant misuse of taxpayer’s money. The manatee is the custodian of our funds TO BE SPENT ON US, not her re-election campaign. The cost of this production MUST be returned immediately to our coffers.
John G
How does she justify using taxpayer’s money to pay for a Labor Party election campaign?
