A date has been set in the Territory’s civil tribunal to decide on a last minute stay application – which could determine the future of a drilling project in the Beetaloo Basin.

On November 5 this year, the Northern Territory Civil and Administrative Tribunal in Alice Springs will decide on an urgent stay application filed by Environment Centre NT (ECNT) against Tamboran Resources.

ECNT’s application seeks to pause Tamboran’s environmental management plan until a decision is reached by the tribunal on another legal challenge the environment group has launched against the project – seeking to overturn environmental approval granted for Tamboran to drill in Shenandoah South.

Tamboran began drilling Shenandoah South Pilot in September.

Previously, attempts to stop Tamboran Resources drilling the Beetaloo Basin have been dismissed by the Supreme Court, with environmental approval granted for the project in June.

The hearing is set to take all day.
