Celebrity pilot Jimmy Nicholson and his wife, travel host Holly Kingston, have paid $2.6m to buy on Sydney’s northern beaches.
They moved into their Avalon Beach property just days before the birth of their first child, Lennox, earlier this month.
The new parents met on The Bachelor TV reality show, on Channel 10, in 2021, with Holly getting through the countless rose ceremonies while in residence at the Dural mansion, Le Chateau.
The couple’s new four-bedroom, three-bathroom 1980s-built home is set on a tropical sanctuary covering 1323sq m that features tiered landscaping and a pond.
There are open interiors under double-height ceilings, with three separate living zones plus a play room off the kitchen.
It has stacking sliders from all main living zones to its terraces that overlook a firepit and gazebo.
The couple have also installed a baby nursery.
PropTrack calculates the median house price at Avalon Beach is $2.84m, which is based on 115 sales. This is up 1.6 per cent over the year. Prices peaked at $3,187,500 in early 2022.
The house was marketed as being a “whisper-quiet setting” but, like all influencers, they intend shouting out their story.
“We cannot wait to share this next chapter of our lives with you as a family of three as we move to our dream first house on the northern beaches where we both grew up,” they told their social media followers.
Holly has 174,000 Instagram followers and Jimmy has 107,000 who have followed their journey from the wedding at his parent’s house at Palm Beach and on to the pregnancy test.
The Boeing pilot recently sold his two-bedroom, one-bathroom North Bondi apartment for $1,675,000.
It had been listed with a cautious $1.4m to $1.5m price guidance, having been bought for $1.42m in late 2021.
It had a few improvements including updating the bathroom and adding airconditioning.
North Bondi’s median two-bedroom price sits at $1,403,000 – up 11 per cent over the year but still well below its late 2022 peak of $1.53m, according to PropTrack.
The dating show was axed in May after season 11 because of poor ratings.
FLOOD OF PROPERTIES OFFERED IN BUYBACK
Home buyers will be given the opportunity to purchase and relocate 29 Northern Rivers homes amid the innovative flood buyback scheme.
The flood plain properties were purchased under the $880m Resilient Homes Program (RHP) run by the NSW and federal governments.
A range of homes around Lismore and Murwillumbah are on offer, from charming old timber homes with obvious potential to those needing more work to bring them back to life.
Many homes in the first release feature front verandas, high ceilings, and even stained glass windows. The NSW Reconstruction Authority has appointed the estate agency PRD Northern Rivers to market the relocatable homes via an expressions of interest process, with priority given to buyers impacted by the 2022 floods.
Preference will also be given to buyers relocating the homes within the Northern Rivers.
All have undergone an assessment explaining what works will be needed with offers due February 14.
The buyers will be responsible for planning and transportation permits within 12 months.
Meanwhile, the Reconstruction Authority has been achieving recycling rates of 72 per cent for structurally unsound homes that can’t be relocated including 972 tonnes of concrete.
About 708 buyback offers had been accepted, with 564 settlements completed.
NSW Emergency Services Minister Jihad Dib says the RHP is continuing to assess properties for eligibility under the program.
“We’re confident the program will help give people options to move off the floodplain and make their homes more resilient against the future impacts of floods.”
LAZENBY ENDS LONG BOND WITH SYDNEY
The last Sydney property of the retired Santa Monica-based actor George Lazenby has recently been sold at Crows Nest for $2.45m through O’Gorman & Partners.
The 85-year-old, who had the shortest tenure as Ian Fleming’s fictional British secret agent James Bond, purchased the Sophia St townhouse in 1986 for $60,000 with his then wife Christina, who was bought out in 2013.
The four-bedroom, one-bathroom Torrens-title townhouse spans three levels with open spaces at the front and rear and a garden running alongside.
There was a single carport.
Lazenby had previously owned on Middle Harbour at Cammeray, having bought in 1979 for $215,000 with Christina. It was bought from actor Lorrae Desmond and her husband Alex Gorshenin, a Macquarie St specialist.
They sold the waterfront in 1985 for $681,000 to Thiess Toyota.
Lazenby also later owned in Mosman with his now former wife, US tennis star Pam Shriver.
Playing the spy character in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service when the Bond girl was designer Anouska Hempel, the Goulburn-born car mechanic turned model had already stepped aside from the role before its December 1969 premiere.
He followed Sean Connery and was replaced by Roger Moore.
