A surfer has seemingly been attacked by a shark at Maroubra Beach on Tuesday morning but has come out of the incident uninjured.

A surfer reported the attack to Randwick City lifeguards shortly before 8am.

A picture posted to social media by Mayor Dylan Parker shows a surfboard dented and bitten by the shark in the incident.

“Maroubra beach was closed at the time due to dangerous surf conditions,” Mr Parker said.

The council is still working to assess what happened in the attack.
