Shocking allegations have come to light as police claim high school-aged girls were drugged and raped at “band camp” parties as part of a sordid and depraved underage sex and drug syndicate operating throughout the Illawarra twenty years ago.
Gone Prculovski, 53, is accused of being the leader and organiser of the gatherings that allegedly took place at motels and caravans with his friend, Michael Trajanovski, 45.
Prculovski was arrested in a caravan park in Barrack Point while Trajanovski was arrested at his Barrack Heights home on Tuesday.
‘Band camp’
Lake Illawarra investigators allege Prculovski and Trajanovski were involved in a network of supplying and using illegal drugs where they groomed teenage girls for sex.
They allegedly gave the girls methylamphetamine at “band camp” parties at motels, hotels, caravan parks and cabins in the Illawarra in 2004.
Police allege most of the teens were aged under 16 and attended local schools including Corrimal High School.
A statement of police facts tendered to Wollongong Local Court said an extensive investigation revealed witnesses, who are now adults, allege Prculovski was the chief organiser and head of the syndicate, with one woman alleging he tasked her to recruit underage teen girls and bring them to “band camp”.
A woman reported to police that when she was 15 years old, a school friend introduced her to Prculovski, aged 34, and 25-year-old Trajanovski at a home in Corrimal, while in their uniforms, in early 2004.
Prculovski allegedly told her how to inhale the drug, made flirtatious comments and referred to her as “my orchi girl” which she was told was Macedonian for “beautiful eyes”.
Police allege the girl attended the band camp parties over the next months where she was forced to smoke meth and have sex with Prculovski and perform oral sex on Trajanovski on multiple occasions.
One on occasion Prculovski allegedly told the girl she would be like a “tennis ball” where she must do what he and Trajanovski wanted sexually, making her feel unsafe and fearful, documents said.
Prculovski allegedly encouraged the girl to not attend school, manipulated her against her family and told her to keep the sex a secret until she turned 16.
Alleged sexual assault
Police allege one evening between January and April 2004 she was at Corrimal Beach Tourist Park with the men where she was told she would have to perform oral sex on Trajanovski, documents said.
Trajanovski took the girl into a bedroom and placed a mattress against the locked door.
Trajanovski allegedly told her to perform oral sex on him before he raped her on and off for several hours causing her pain and bleeding.
She allegedly pleaded with Trajanovski to stop and let her out.
Later, Prculovski attempted to get into the room and had a verbal argument with Trajanovski in Macedonian before she was allowed to leave.
Police investigation
Police allege the woman had a lawfully recorded conversation with Prculovski in December last year where she allegedly referred to her as “orchi” before he allegedly said, “I’m sorry for anything I have done wrong…”, documents said.
In another recorded conversation the woman told Prculovski, “what about when Traj had me locked in the room for five hours … you got angry at him, you and him had words remember….”
Prculovski allegedly said, “yeah, yeah that’s right cos he shouldn’t have done that”.
Police allege the men groomed the girl and exploited her vulnerability with coercive control, documents said.
Police allege Prculovski raped the girl, when she was 15, multiple times while she was under the influence of drugs at premises in Windang, Dapto, Woonona, Bulli, Wollongong and Port Kembla from January to August in 2004.
Prculovski was charged with nine counts of aggravated sexual intercourse with a person between 14 and 16 years old, sexual intercourse with a person between 14 and 16 years old, four counts of sexual intercourse without consent, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He was also charged with four counts of supplying and possessing drugs, and six counts of possessing a prohibited weapon without permit.
Prculovski did not apply for bail on Wednesday and it was formally refused.
Trajanovski was charged with allegedly detaining a person with intent to obtain advantage occasioning actual bodily harm and three counts of alleged aggravated sexual assault with a victim under the age of 16.
Court case
Trajanovski’s defence lawyer Analise Ritchie said her client completely denied the allegations.
She said there had been a gap of 20 years since the alleged assaults and he did not have a criminal history.
The court heard he had significant family support, with his wife, parents and relatives in court to support him.
Ms Ritchie said Trajanovski was born and raised in the Illawarra, he lived with his wife and children, adding he recently started working in a mine but previously worked as a security officer.
Magistrate Michael Love said the allegations were extremely serious and there appeared to be a strong prosecution case.
Trajanovski was refused bail and the case was adjourned to May 22.
