On June 23, 2023, Waghorn met with a police witness at Westfield Tuggerah just after 11.40am and introduced himself. He then pulled a plastic bag from his pants, which contained a paper coffee cup holding two freezer bags tied together.
The police operative exchanged $8000 for 27.8 grams of cocaine.
On July 4, 2023, Waghorn again met the police witness at Westfield Tuggerah, this time handing over a KFC takeaway bag containing an envelope wrapped in a paper towel. Inside was 139 grams of cocaine, exchanged for $36,250.
On July 20, 2023, just after 9.30am, Waghorn approached the passenger side of the witness’s car at Snap Carwash in Erina and got in.
He pulled a package wrapped in a green and white cleaning cloth from his tracksuit pants and handed it to the witness.
In return for $36,250, the witness received 140.4 grams of cocaine.
On August 25, 2023, Waghorn drove to the Erina Fair undercover carpark with an associate. The associate, Shay Horn, got out and handed the witness 112 grams of cocaine in exchange for $29,000.
Six days later, on August 31, Waghorn drove Horn to Erina Fair, where they exchanged 997 grams of MDMA for $48,000 with the police witness.
At 12.30pm on March 28, 2024, police attended a unit in Liverpool and found Waghorn hiding under a bed. He was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station.
Horn has also pleaded guilty over his role in the large-scale drug trafficking operation.
Waghorn will be sentenced in the Gosford District Court at a later date.
