How to get an apprenticeship

APPLICATIONS have now closed for the downright strange position of organisational design analyst at NT Health.

The position, which sounds like something out of ABC TV sitcom Utopia, lists supporting “change champions”, developing dashboards and implementing change across “multiple streams” as its job requirements.

The government department recently advertised the position, which pays a tidy salary of between $109,514 and $117,815.

According to the listing, an organisational design analyst is responsible for “effectively supporting the implementation of the organisational redesign, integration and reshaping, to ensure the delivery of desired strategic outcomes and benefits realisation”.

The job is part of NT Health’s Better Together Program, which the listing helpfully outlines.

“The purpose of the Better Together Program is to integrate the organisation and the way that it operates, following legislation, strategic direction and approved design parameters.”

The job ad also outlines eight key duties and responsibilities of the organisational design analyst, including to: “provide thorough analysis of current and future ways of working to enable the execution of organisational design strategies”.

In addition, one must “support business leaders and change champions with consultation, diagnostics, planning, implementation, and evaluation of organisational design activities”.

In dot point three, applicants are informed they must “develop dashboards and other data-driven tools to monitor and manage the implementation of the change across multiple streams of work.”

The position was fixed for six months, based out of Darwin.

Applications for the position closed last week.

When contacted to ask what an organisational design analyst was, NT Health said they would be unable to comment until today, after print deadline.

Wealth gap: Australia's billionaires only got richer during COVID

It’s not the first time an NT government department has raised eyebrows in adverting a government position.

Late last year the NT News revealed the Chief Minister’s department was looking to hire an anti-terrorism expert to join a high-ranking security team.

It was one of just four people on the Security and Emergency Recovery Team, which aimed to “implement initiatives aimed at preventing violent extremism in the NT.

Yesterday, the Sunday Territorian in its Bushranger column revealed the Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics Department was looking for a new executive director.

That role, which is still open unlike the organisational design analyst, also pays a much higher $237,573 annually over four years.
