TERRITORIANS enjoyed a very Good Friday, rocking out at the Darwin Amphitheatre as revellers here were once again the envy of the nation as they turned out in droves for the SummerSalt music festival

TERRITORIANS enjoyed a very Good Friday, rocking at the Darwin Amphitheatre last night, yet again as the envy of the nation.

As names like Boy & Bear, Emily Wurramurra, The Cat Empire and the Teskey Brothers lit up the stage, patrons lit up the mosh pit and the garden grounds, making the most of the Territory’s freedom.

Threats of wild weather and drops of rain didn't concern the crowd who were simply excited to enjoy live music at its best.

Kununurra resident Dwes Wiggan made the trek from interstate, such was the occasion of a music festival on a post-coronavirus world.

“Rain hail or shine, we would be here,” he said.

“It’s worth the drive from Kununurra to celebrate this fantastic festival.”

While Bluesfest in Byron has been cancelled for the second year in a row, the success of the SummerSalt tour hitting Darwin follows the Reset Series, Electric Storm, Raindance as a staggering comeback for the entertainment industry, blossoming from the Top End.

Darwin resident Blake O’Donnell said Territorian’s had earnt the chance to dance through their work in restricting the spread of coronavirus.

“I’m keen catch the Cat Empire and have gotten here early to have a few drinks,” he said.

“Everyone’s pulled together, gotten the job done and done the right thing … there’s nowhere better you could be.”

Darwin’s successful rebirthing of live music is set to continue with One Tropical Day on April 24 and the return of BassintheGrass on May 15.
