The Territory’s vibrant style will be on full display as Darwin’s most glamourous head on down to Fannie Bay for another huge edition of the Bridge Toyota Ladies Day.

Bold and bright colours and patterns will be the choice for fashionistas heading down for the third major race day of the 2024 edition of the Darwin Cup Carnival.

Cup ambassador Bronte Pearson has already shown off plenty of outfits from local designers and retailers across Guineas Day and the Chief Minister’s Cup.

This time around she will be wearing a dress designed by Marcia Russell from Black Cat Couture integrating Indigenous fabrics from Songlines.

Her hat was also designed by a Darwin local in Belinda Osborne of Peacock Millinery, who is rated as one of the best milliners in the country.

“It’s a beautiful orange dress, that’s going to be nice and bright, it’s very Territorian and is definitely going to be a head turner,” Ms Pearson said.

“We’ve got a really wide variety of outfits this year such as Aboriginal fabrics from Songlines to local designs.

“It’s exciting for me to be able to showcase the variety of retailers we have in Darwin to not only the NT, but also to all my followers from around Australia.

“It’s something the Territory deserves, and not something our retailers get enough of, so it’s really nice to showcase the amazing fabrics and artwork we have up here.”

It sets a standard that plenty of Darwin’s best dressed will hope to emulate, particularly as they compete in the Fashions on the Field.

There has also been an upward trend in ticket sales for the Carnival in recent weeks as interest for the big day itself on August 5 ramps up.

Thousands have already made their way through the gates at the Darwin Turf Club for the opening days of the carnival, and now it’s in full swing it is only expected to get busier.

“It’s been fantastic to be a part of the Carnival and it has been such a busy year, which is so exciting for Darwin and the Darwin Turf Club,” Ms Pearson said.

“The ticket sales are up and there’s a big buzz around the event, which is really humbling to see and puts it in great stead for future years too.”
