Two extra charges laid against NRL star’s brother Troy Xerri over fatal crash

Troy Xerri, the stepbrother of NRL star Bronson, could face up to 14 years in jail if convicted after police laid two extra charges for his alleged role in a three-car crash in Sydney’s northwest that left one woman dead.

The stepbrother of NRL star Bronson Xerri could face up to 14 years in jail if convicted after police laid two extra charges for his alleged role in a three-car crash in Sydney’s northwest that left one woman dead.

Troy Xerri, 28, was originally facing five separate charges over the head-on crash that claimed the life of the other driver, 63-year-old Jo'Anne Duke.

Xerri was driving south along Blaxland Rd in Eastwood after 5pm on November 13 last year when police allege he collided with Mrs Duke’s grey Mazda 2.

A third car was also involved in the crash. The 34-year-old woman driver of the car was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Xerri was charged on November 14 with dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, cause bodily harm by misconduct, negligent driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

However, The Sunday Telegraph has learned police have ­recently added two extra charges, including aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death and ­aggravated dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm.

It will be alleged Xerri was travelling 45km/h over the speed limit at the time of the crash.

Bronson, a talented Cronulla Sharks player, was target-tested by anti-doping agency (ASADA) officers on November 25 — 11 days after the crash.

After a six-month investigation, Bronson, 19, was provisionally stood down by ASADA last Tuesday and is facing a suspension of up to four years from all major sport after returning a positive A-sample to anabolic steroids.
