GOTHIC murder mystery TV series The Kettering Incident has won a top prize at a prestigious international festival – before it has even screened in Australia.
The series – which was filmed in and around Kettering, south of Hobart – received the special jury prize at the seventh annual Series Mania festival in Paris, which celebrates the world’s best new TV series.
The Kettering Incident follows a doctor who returns to her home town after several years overseas, only to find herself at the centre of a mystery surrounding the disappearance of a young girl.
The $14 million series stars Australian actors Matt Le Nevez, Elizabeth Debicki and Sascha Horler. The first two episodes had their world premiere in Hobart last June as part of the Dark Mofo festival, but the series is still yet to screen on Foxtel.
Producer Vikki Madden hopes the Series Mania award will help secure a worldwide distribution deal for the program.
