The cousin of slain gangster Mejid Hamzy has been stabbed during a jail fight with another inmate.
Less than a week after Hamzy was shot dead outside his Condell Park home, his cousin Mohammed “Little Crazy” Hamzy was stabbed in John Morony Correctional Complex.
The incident occurred about 1.30pm on Friday and police will be investigating if there are any links to the assassination earlier this week.
Sources said the incident was sparked over a fight with an inmate at the prison in Sydney’s north west.
Prison authorities are now attempting to uncover what led to the brawl.
However, Hamzy was stabbed with a weapon that was made in the jail.
He is understood to have suffered superficial injuries and was taken to hospital for precautionary treatment.
Also known as “ C”, Hamzy was a senior figure of the now defunct Brothers for Life gang founded by his other cousin, crime boss Bassam Hamzy.
