THE first BASSINTHEGRASS at Mindil Beach on Saturday is nearly a sellout, organisers have revealed.
An NT Major Events Company spokeswoman said the event’s new venue and line-up was attracting the largest crowd to date.
“We are nearing a sellout, with a capacity of 10,000 attendees,” she said.
“Mindil Beach is already a hive of activity with dozens of staff and contractors on site setting up stages, share structures, marquees and more ahead of this weekend’s event.
“We encourage everybody to get their tickets quickly to avoid missing out.”
Darwin musician's Caiti Baker's childhood was surrounded by vinyls, CDs and tapes of Aretha Franklin, Etta James and Billie Holiday.
At age 12 she began to write and record her own songs. Now she’s set to perform at her first BASSINTHEGRASS.
With one album under her belt, she is now praised as one of Australia’s most talented genre-blending musicians.

Baker was proud to be part of Darwin’s evolving music community.
“There’s a lot of kids making amazing music at home and putting it up online,” she said.
“Then you’ve got the artists who are engaging with each other and engaging with the scene.”
Baker is thrilled to join Amy Shark, the Hilltop Hoods and more at Mindil Beach.
“It’s probably one of the best line-ups I’ve seen in the country in a long time,” she said.
“The amount of acts and diversity of acts that cater for different genres and age groups, they’re all quality artists, there’s quite a few on the bill I’ll be in the audience for.”
“I’m pretty proud that it’s a festival happening here in my hometown and I’m honoured to be a part of it.”
Baker was eager for the next steps in her career.
“I’m looking forward to hopefully releasing some new music soon and revealing my next chapter,” she said.
