Scott Morrison's miracle election victory

It was the party that they weren’t expecting to have.

The Liberal Party celebrated its shock re-election overnight with huge smiles and lots of back slapping.

Former prime minister John Howard embraced Scott Morrison, Peter Dutton high-fived supporters and NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian was unable to hide her surprise at the result.

“I have always believed in miracles! I’m standing with the three biggest miracles in my life here tonight. And tonight we’ve been delivered another one,” Mr Morrison told supporters. “How good is Australia? How good are Australians? This is the best country in the world.”
