Cocaine Cassie reveals only fans is a "no go"

Convicted drug smuggler ‘Cocaine Cassie’ Sainsbury has revealed she is struggling because she has “no friends” after being released from Colombian prison and returning to Australia.

Sainsbury moved back to Adelaide with her wife Tatiana last year after spending three years locked up in a women-only prison followed by two years on parole, during which time she not allowed to leave the South American nation.

She was caught with 5.8kg of cocaine in her luggage and broke up with her fiance Scott Bainbridge after her arrest.

Sainsbury told the Herald Sun that she is trying to get her life back on track now that she’s at home - but it’s not easy.

“I quite often get told that I’m a murderer, that I’m quite conniving and cold and don’t show remorse,” she said.

“People can’t show emotions because that’s a sign of weakness so I buried the sadness and I’d feel I pretty much got to a point where it would explode. I’m not this nasty person.”

Sainsbury also spoke of how people stare at her on the street, and that she does not have many friends left from before she was jailed.

“Friends, I don’t really have any, there’s family in bits and pieces,” she said.

“What got to me was I had friends writing letters supporting me and then on social media writing crap about me. It is what it is.”

Last year, Sainsbury’s father Stuart Sainsbury revealed he hadn’t spoken to his daughter for five years.

“I am still pretty angry about it. My family was trashed. We share the same surname. I’ve got an elderly mother to protect,” he told the Adelaide Advertiser.

“I don’t know what to say. You smuggle cocaine. You do your time. I guess she’s done her time.”

Addressing the deep family lift, Sainsbury said she “didn’t expect” her father to turn on her.

“I think that’s probably the hardest thing, because at the end of the day I’m still his daughter,” she said. “I’m not saying he needs to condone what I did. But I’m still his daughter.”

Sainsbury will star on the new series of SAS Australia later this year.
