TICKETS will be released for one of the most anticipated Darwin Cup Carnivals at noon today, with the carnival returning to its full eight-day schedule.

Darwin Turf Club chief executive Brad Morgan said new additions to the schedule would help the carnival return to its best after a modified fixture in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Punters will be pleased to know that the bet365 Palmerston Sprint will return to its pride of place on the Saturday before Cup Day, and the Darwin Turf Club Gala Ball will this year remain on the lawns of the Darwin Turf Club after wonderful feedback from 2020,” he said. “There are also some new additions throughout the four-week carnival, including The Paddock on Cup Day, which will be a ticketed space with DJ entertainment, lounges and market umbrellas.”

More than 90 per cent of corporate boxes on Darwin Cup Day have already been sold with most sales coming from interstate guests.

Mr Morgan said the number of interstate sales indicated 2021 could make for one of the biggest years yet.

“It is very exciting to see such unprecedented interest from interstate, and we have been fielding upwards of 20 calls a day with people inquiring,” he said.

“Race goers should not hesitate in buying their tickets as we are expecting another complete sellout.”

Darwin Turf Club young member Alex Ward said she expected a big social year at the races. “Seeing friends and family come from interstate is really exciting because it’s the dry season, it’s so lovely up here for them to escape winter,” she said.
