THE final round of Darwin Council’s myDarwin voucher scheme starts today, but Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis has indicated it may not be the last shoppers see of the successful scheme.
The sixth instalment of the program includes a pool of $200,000 that is available to consumers who can save up to $40 every 48 hours.
Aussie Pooch Nutrition and Wellbeing owner Hannah Bohlin said the vouchers had made a huge difference in bringing money through their doors.

“We have seen when the rounds are on, customers we don’t see as often come into our store,” she said.
“People are spending more, if they’re nearly at $80 we can say ‘If you spend another $5 or $10, you get $20 off.”
The Darwin Lord Mayor said with the pandemic still far from over, the program could be reinstated ‘very quickly’ at any time if the economy dictated it.

“Should the need arise again, Darwin council will not slip down, we will not let businesses slip down, we can reintroduce it very quickly,” he said.
