A man has been charged with murder weeks after a major brawl in the Alice Springs CBD.
Police alleged that the 22-year-old stabbed a man in the chest during an altercation between up to 20 people on Gregory Terrace on May 15.
Police and St John Ambulance services provided initial first aid and took the stabbing victim to Alice Springs Hospital in a critical condition.
He died on July 4, aged 28.
The 22-year-old first appeared in court on May 19 charged with acts intending to cause serious harm.
Those charges have now been upgraded to murder, following consultation with the Department of Public Prosecutions.
The alleged killer remains in custody and will return to court on July 24.
