The new owners of a multimillion-dollar Broadbeach dining precinct have shared their plans to revitalise the space with new venues and the return of a local icon.
The new owners Moreton Hospitality have now revealed they will be opening two new venues on December 1.
The “reimagined concept” includes an “authentic local pub”, The Beach Hotel Broadbeach, and a modern Australian dining venue called Cora.
Moreton Hospitality chief operating officer Lance Burrows said they “jumped at the opportunity to refurbish the precinct”.
“(We wanted to) bring the vibrancy back with a revitalised space and a contemporary new menu crafted for casual and shared dining experiences,” he said.
Moreton Hospitality was founded by the Anthony Moreton Group, which bought the original Beach Hotel Broadbeach at 50 Surf Parade in 2013 before it was demolished to make way for a 35-storey redevelopment two years later.
“We’re excited to bring back The Beach Hotel Broadbeach and restoring the hotel to its original name,” Mr Burrows said.
“Our goal is to reconnect with the local community and offer the quintessential pub experience — great food, drinks, live entertainment and that unmistakeable beachside vibe.”
Mr Burrows said Cora would replace Miss Moneypenny’s with an elevated dining experience combining modern Australian cuisine with flavours from the Mediterranean.
“We listened to our customers and the new direction reflects this, with a dynamic coastal offering to welcome locals and visitors alike,” he said.
“The new venue is community-centric, welcoming families with children for the first time.”
While the venues will undergo a complete transformation, Moreton Hospitality said they would be keeping “all the beloved key venue staff from Miss Moneypenny’s and Fat Freddy’s”.
That includes AGFG award-winning head chef Tapos Singha who said he was “excited to steer the menu in a different direction”.
“This new elevated pub offering is yet to be seen here at Broadbeach, and Cora brings a contemporary dining experience that is designed to not only delight the palate but also nourish the body,” he said.
The group also owns The Beach Hotel Stradbroke Island and said it had plans for a “major refurbishment” in 2025 to “revitalise the pub, accommodation and entertainment offering”.
