INFLUENCERS have been taking the world by storm – and for many, it’s a lucrative business.
A new guide from online music licencing company Lickd has revealed how much Gold Coast influencers are likely making, with sponsored posts their main source of income.
According to Lickd calculations, to earn $80,000 a year an influencer needs a minimum of 5,000 followers on Instagram and 246 sponsored posts a year.
Once they hit 5,000 followers, each sponsored post can bring them up to $350, however this figure can increase quickly.
Here are some of Gold Coast’s top influencers and what they are estimated to earn.
10. Em Carey – @em — Carey
Followers: 164k
Estimated earnings per post: $496 – $827
Engagement rate: 6.63%
Carey – ‘the girl who fell from the sky’. In 2013 Carey was in a freak skydiving accident which left her paralysed from the waist down. After years of rehab she learnt to walk again. She keeps her followers up to date on her everyday struggles, and triumphs. With an average of 10,871 likes per post and a 6.63% engagement rate, her followers love to see her adventures around the world.

Followers: 202k
Estimated earnings per post: $603 – $1,005
Engagement rate: 1.41%
A participant in Love Island Australia season one, Denise has definitely found a band of loyal followers. After struggling with Instagram’s guidelines on what you can wear when posting, she started an Onlyfans account where she earns the majority of her income. This does not mean she has abandoned her followers on Instagram, providing them with regular content about her life on the Gold Coast.

Engagement rate: 3.3%
Hemson’s bio is ‘so much more than just my body’. She not only promotes body positivity, but shows followers her newest outfits or getaways and updates them on her everyday life. With an average of 12,660 likes per post her followers are most interested in her modelling and fashion content.

Engagement rate: 13.31%
Paul has skipped her way to fame in a somewhat controversial manner by showing off her luxurious lifestyle and creating content on Onlyfans. With a net worth of $500,000, Paul’s followers love seeing what she gets up to in a day – she receives a whopping average of 78,775 likes per post.
6. Skye Wheatley – @skye.wheatley

Estimated earnings per post: $2,017 – $3,362
Engagement rate: 2.65%
Wheatley found her way to fame with a stint in the Big Brother house in 2013. She mostly posts about her two boys and how she handles life with a newborn. Whether her following stems from her raw and honest perspectives or her renovation videos, she definitely has gained some loyal watchers – she averages 17,790 likes per post with a 2.64% engagement rate.

Engagement rate: 1.08%
Hembrow, who could be regarded as the Gold Coast’s top influencer, recently had her net worth estimated at $2 million. Hembrow owns her own clothing businesses, Saski Collection, and is believed to earn thousands every time she posts to her audience of 13 million followers.
