IT’S the social media platform taking the world – and the Gold Coast – by storm.
Younger residents of this city are spending increasingly little time on Facebook and Instagram, while busily churning out videos on alternative platform TikTok.
And many of them are making quite the name for themselves with their inventive posts.
These are the Gold Coasters achieving massive followings for their TikTok antics.
Sebby Laz
Followers: 3.6m
Sebby Laz has become something of a TikTok sensation by mastering the genre of humorous ‘point of view’ videos.
In one popular TikTok, called Dinner at your Friends vs Best Friends, he muses over the wonder of cooking with garlic.
“Can I have some pasta with my garlic … God what are you trying to do kill a vampire?,” he remarks.
It appears lots of people are in on the joke - Sebby has amassed a remarkable 3.6 million followers.
Akheel Mavjee
Followers: 16k
Akheel has found a different way to secure a large following, using the Gold Coast as a stunning backdrop for a series of action-packed videos.
The thrillseeker is seen jumping waves with his jet ski and taking on some of the Coast’s biggest barrels.
Vvoool
Followers: 221.9k
Vvoool is certainly the calmer side of TikTok. If you enjoy relaxing with videos featuring the soothing sound of waves, or views of spectacular Gold Coast sunsets, Vvoool’s account is one you can lose yourself in.
Charlotte Martinx
Followers: 52.5k
Charlotte Martinx specialises in funny, ‘relatable’ TikToks.
Her most viral video, which has clocked up 888.6k views, plays Katy Perry’s ‘Hot n Cold’ against the caption: “When you’re in love with him for months and one day get the ick and never want to hear from him again”.
Sasha Morpeth
Followers: 2.7m
The second most followed TikToker on the Gold Coast, Sasha found her fame a surprisingly simple way – by sharing videos of her mum giving her breakfast in bed every morning.
“Come in.. Good morning mumma bear,” Sasha says to her mum.
“Good morning possum. Now I hope you’re fighting fit because we have the boxing class in 15 minutes,” her mum replies, opening her curtains.
You could say Sasha’s mum is just as famous as her when it comes to their Tiktoks.

The account’s travel guides are so popular its following has grown to 18,300.
Anna Paul
Followers: 654.5k
Anna Paul has had something of a turbulent relationship with TikTok, having had her popular account shut down by the platform in March.
The move, supposedly sparked because she also works as a content creator on OnlyFans, sparked outrage among her hundreds of thousands of followers.
Thankfully she is now back on TikTok with a new account in which she documents her life on the Gold Coast in daily 60-second videos.
