A WELL-known high-end Gold Coast waterfront restaurant, favoured by politicians, powerbrokers and developers, is on the market for a seven-figure sum as another beloved local site gets ready for change.

Edgewater Dining & Lounge, along with its neighbouring Fish Emporium, in the high-end Capri on Via Roma shopping centre was listed for sale this week for $3.975 million, plus stock value.

Edgewater, owned by the Cianci family, has been a long-time frequent location for high-flying charity lunches and business meetings, as well as a special occasion dinner spot for locals.

The family’s Fish Emporium next door is a more casual affair, selling fresh and cooked seafood to be enjoyed in the centre’s glittering waterfront location.

Gold Coast City Council last month confirmed PTC Consulting, another company owned by Peter and Tracey Cianci, had won the tender for a new restaurant in the beloved Kirra Pizza Hut building.

Mr Cianci said the decision to sell out of the Isle of Capri businesses was a family one.

He said the couple was not ready to discuss their plans for the new southern GC restaurant.

Marketing for the Isle of Capri restaurants describe the operation as a “rock solid, proven performer” boasting $9 million a year in revenue, and returning a 24 per cent profit.

The business, opened by the family seven years ago, has 15 years remaining on its lease, with another seven-year option, with rent just five per cent of its sales.

The two eateries employ 49 staff members, cover 807 square metres with capacity to host in excess 350 patrons and boast glowing online reviews and strong social media presence.

The opening of a new restaurant at the Pizza Hut site is to generate leasing revenue to help with the costs for council of rejuvenating the much-loved building, which has graced the beachfront for more than 40 years.

The neighbouring Kirra Surf Life Saving Club has had to be closed for up to eight weeks to fix structural problems and to remove asbestos and lead paint from the heritage building.

Pizza lovers early lined up around the block to get their last slice and a chance to reminisce on times at the Kirra Beach diner before its closure in 2019.

The council said refurbishment works of the Kirra Pavilion was expected to be completed in mid-2021.
