A Gold Coast cheerleading gym has been named the best in the region for the second year in a row.

Inspire Athletics came out on top of the reader-voted Gold Coast Bulletin poll, nudging out rivals Burleigh Heads’ Mega Cheer and Outlaws Allstars.

“It’s such a proud moment, not just for me but for our whole coaching team, athletes and families,” Inspire Athletics owner Journey Hipwood said.

Ms Hipwood took over the Biggera Waters gym in 2022 and now it has more than 250 athletes registered.

The 23-year-old said she took her Fame 5 team to the Cheerleading World Championships in Florida in April.

“This event happens each year and we are hoping to take teams every year or every second year,” she said.

“Trips to (world championships) are about so much more than competing at the highest level.

“They represent the ultimate standard of excellence we’re striving for at Inspire Athletics.

“It’s not just about the routines or the medals, it’s about showing our athletes what’s possible when hard work, commitment and passion come together.”

Ms Hipwood said the chance to fly to the United States was a great initiative to help push their up-and-comers to see “what is possible”.
