Joshua Wakefield, 27, pleads guilty to aggravated burglary, damage, assault in North Shore gun chaos

Chaotic scenes unfolded during an aggravated burglary. Watch the frenzied daylight attack here.

CCTV footage of violent attack on home

CCTV captured the terrifying moment a man pointed a gun and shot twice into a North Shore home while his ex and her male friend were inside.

The shots were fired during a scene of utter chaos, with punches thrown, vehicles and property damaged, and a bikini-clad woman dashing to safety.

Moments before Joshua Wakefield, 27, pulled the trigger, an 11-year-old girl was whisked away from his path of fury, the footage of the incident on January 20 last year shows.

The man and woman inside the house were desperately holding the door shut in an attempt to stop Wakefield from getting inside moments before he used the firearm, court documents reveal.

The court documents state that after he had fired the shots, “the victim came outside armed with a black bat to protect herself”.

“Wakefield turned around and walked towards her, drawing the black coloured handgun from the front of his pants, pointing it towards the victim,” the document reads.

Wakefield can be heard on the CCTV footage telling his accomplice to “get her”, referring to the female victim.

During Wakefield’s frenzied daylight attack he repeatedly hit his ex-partner in the head with the gun at the Seabeach Parade house.

During two minutes of chaos the female victim was punched repeatedly in the head and face by Wakefield’s 27-year-old female accomplice Georgia Spong; the female victim’s car in the driveway was rammed; a bikini-clad woman ran from Wakefield’s path; and he smashed windows at the house.

When police arrived at the scene they found two bullet fragments and two cartridge cases.

The gun was not found by police, according to court documents.

Wakefield also smashed a motorcycle at the house with a bat, and documents reveal the commotion was heard at a nearby cafe, where the call to police was made.

Wakefield was arrested outside a house in Melton by the Special Operations Group, an elite unit of Victoria Police that deals with high-risk situations, on February 3 last year, three weeks after the incident.

The female victim was taken to Geelong hospital with head injuries, which included a small forehead haematoma, multiple scalp lacerations and complaints of head and chest pain.

This week Wakefield, of Melton South, pleaded guilty in the Melbourne County Court to aggravated burglary, criminal damage, assault, and reckless conduct endangering people.

Spong pleaded guilty in the Geelong Magistrates Court in October last year to assault, intentionally damaging property, drug possession and unlicensed driving and was sentenced to an aggregate 100 days imprisonment.

Wakefield will be sentenced on August 18.
