An Armstrong Creek tradie, alleged to have obtained property by deception, did not show up for his first court appearance.

A warrant for Brent Macleod’s arrest was issued in the Geelong Magistrates Court.

An Armstrong Creek tradie who allegedly dishonestly received funds, has had a warrant issued for his arrest after he failed to show up to court.

Brent Macleod, 31, failed to show up to the Geelong Magistrates Court on charges of obtaining property by deception, as he claimed he was working in Mildura.

According to court documents, Mr Macleod, is alleged to have dishonestly received a refund and obtained property to the value of $3243.50 with the intention of permanently depriving the alleged victim of the money.

Magistrate Franz Holzer said he was unable to hear the matter in Mr Macleod’s absence.

The court heard Mr Macleod had contacted the court to say he was unable to make it, and requested the court case to be adjourned until October, as he was on a work contract in Mildura.

Mr Holzer said he would not adjourn the matter as it was “very presumptuous” and for Mr Macleod’s “own convenience”.

Police prosecutor Kiley Gray asked for a warrant to be issued for his arrest, which Mr Holzer granted.
