A self-proclaimed sovereign citizen and former senior RSL Vice President part of the controversial Australian One party, alleges he was “slammed to the concrete by a police officer” after protesting against child sex trafficking.

Glenn Agnew, 58 of Teesdale, fronted court on Tuesday charged with trespassing, assaulting an emergency worker, and possessing a controlled weapon.

Mr Agnew was at Westfield Geelong when it is alleged he racially abused a security guard on February 1, this year.

He was asked to leave the area by police because he was protesting out the front on Yarra Street with placards saying “stop child sex trafficking”.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Kiley Gray said Mr Agnew refused and “became aggressive and confrontational”.

Constable Gray said Mr Agnew raised his fists and also raised his voice towards the officers.

The court heard the officer put his palm on Mr Agnew’s chest and pushed him away to maintain a safe space.

Mr Agnew was then arrested, and during the patdown search, police allegedly located a pocket knife on him and took him to the police station where he was charged and bailed.

Police will also allege Mr Agnew trespassed at Westfield Tuggerah on December 21, 2023 when he, and other members of the Australia One party were asked to move away from the entrance of Westfield.

Glenn Agnew, a member of the One Australia Party, appeared in the Geelong Magistrates' Court on April 2, 2024.

They failed to comply with management directions and Mr Agnew was spoken to by police and given a direction to move.

Representing himself in court Mr Agnew said he was assaulted by police in February this year.

Mr Agnew said police were trying to get them to move, which was “totally irrational”.

“We were on a public footpath and causing no disruption,” he said.

He told the court an officer thrust his hand on his chest in an “extremely threatening manner” and pressed him against the wall for 10-15 seconds.

“I was then seized upon by another constable and was thrown face first on the concrete footpath with his knee on my back,” he said.

Magistrate Franz Holzer offered to resolve the matter by way of fine without conviction, however Mr Agnew asked why he would receive a fine if he didn’t do anything wrong.

The One Australia Party is led by former special forces lieutenant turned political hopeful Riccardo Bosi, a far right activist and conspiracy theorists.

The matter will return to court for a hearing on July 18.
