Coach Glen Waddingham says his Edge Hill squad have the confidence they can overturn any deficit in the 2020 FNQ Football Premier Women competition.

For the second time in the last few weeks, United went behind in their Round 6 clash with JCU Strikers, but found a way to battle back and get the three points.

In fact, United went behind twice against Strikers, before a hat-trick from Siobhan Macken helped turn the game their way.

Edge Hill now face a crunch test against top of the table Mareeba, this Sunday, and coach Waddingham says his playing group are up for it.

“The character was great really, we did something similar against Leichhardt a few weeks back as well,” Waddingham said.

“There is plenty of ticker from the girls.

“Mareeba will be tough for us, that will be a tight tussle and a challenge, which the girls will hopefully be up for.”

Waddingham says the experienced Macken leads by example out on the pitch and delivered in front of goals, as well.

Meanwhile, Leichhardt FC had five different players bulge the old onion bag in their 5-0 triumph over Innisfail United FC on Sunday afternoon in the men’s competition.
