Northern Pride stars make fashion debut at Gordon’s Pink Fashion High Tea

From the footy field to the race track, a handful of local rugby league players will make their fashion debut at the Cairns Amateurs spring carnival celebrations. How you can get in on the action.

Fashion and footy will combine for a fun little twist at the 66th annual Cairns Amateurs spring carnival’s Gordon’s Pink Fashion High Tea on Thursday, September 12.

Around 450 fashionistas are expected to converge on the Eastern Events Lawn of Cairns Esplanade for the highly anticipated event.

This year’s high tea will include catwalk appearances from local rugby league team Northern Pride.

Cairns Amateurs Carnival steering committee member Rebecca Conlan said she was looking forward to the fashion-infused celebration.

“Guests will see plenty of pink and spring-inspired theming in keeping with Gordon’s Pink branding, along with traditional high tea goodies, a fashion parade showcasing the latest spring/summer styles from Myer Cairns with a few surprises, including player appearances on the catwalk from the Northern Pride.”

With a tropical fashion theme, Cairns Amateurs Carnival fashion ambassador Emma Scodellaro said she expected to see a lot of bold and vibrant prints.

“This year I expect to see the ‘tropical’ theme displayed throughout the entire carnival, with outfits containing bright colours, fun prints and a nod to Cairns itself with outfits taking inspiration from the coral reef,” Ms Scodellaro said.

“This year in addition to a vibrant colour palette, I expect to see more substantial millinery and lots of thought placed on head to toe looks, with race goers paying a lot of attention to the small details of their outfits, whether it be their shoes, handbag or earrings.”

The event will include the much-loved fashion competition in which each table fields its best-dressed guests for a share in one of three sashes and prizes for Myer Cairns Lady of the Day, Best Millinery and Myer Cairns Ambassador’s Choice.

Media personality Tammy Barker will emcee the event and guide guests throughout proceedings, including how to win prizes, such as crafted jewellery from The Diamond Hunter.
