The two attacks follow a string of snake bites reported to Queensland Ambulance Services in the Far North, including a bite injury to an eight-year-old boy in Cape York earlier this month.

At the beginning of this year experts warned of baby snakes slipping into locked homes in FNQ.

According to statistics for triple-0 calls released by Queensland Ambulance Services for 2023, the Cairns and Hinterland region has reported 33 calls for suspected snake bites this year, with Cape York recording four call-outs and Townsville reporting 34 suspected cases.
