Fishing expert and famous influencer Ryan Moody had his gear stolen from his boat while out for dinner in Cooktown earlier this week.
Mr Moody and his wife, Karen Rudkin-Moody, had parked in boat in the public boat ramp pontoon when he was raided by thieves.
Posting a video to social media, the couple said the boat was raided by kids who took off with gear including $1000 in fly reels and a container of Nomad Vertrex Vibes.
Mr Moody said children he questioned had sent him on a wild-goose chase as he scooted down the street “looking for two blokes carrying a tackle bag”.
Among the stolen items from the boat, which was unlocked, included boxes of valops and tackle.
The items were eventually dumped in bushes with the rest of their valuables returned by a resident.
In the video posted to social media, the couple joked about discipling the thieves themselves.
But Mr Moody was quick to mention next time he’ll know better and “will make sure to bring keys with me to lock the front hatches”.
“Kids will be kids? Or harsher penalties for juveniles? When I was a kid getting up to mischief I wasn’t scared of the police. I was scared of my dad finding out!” the first video post read.
Mr Moody and his wife were contacted for comment but declined.
Police were also contacted for comment.
