Man, 42 remains in hospital in stable condition after a serious car, motorcycle and pedestrian crash in Cairns North

A man is still laid up in Cairns hospital after being involved in a serious crash involving a car, a motorcycle and a pedestrian walking a bicycle on Sheridan St on Thursday.

After three people were transported following a serious crash involving a car, a motorcycle and a pedestrian in Cairns North on Thursday afternoon, Cairns Hospital has reported one person remained in hospital.

In an update on Friday a hospital spokesman said a man, 42, was in a stable condition.

It is not known if he was driving the vehicle, motorbike or walking the bicycle,

Meanwhile, a 29-year-old man was expected to be discharged on Friday and a 19-year-old woman was discharged from Cairns Hospital on Thursday.

Multiple emergency services crews were called to the scene of the serious crash shortly after 2pm on Thursday.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said they had “multiples crews at the scene”.

“We are treating serious injuries at this crash,” she said.

“There are three patients who have been treated, one person each from the motorcycle, car and the person walking their bicycle, and they have all been transported to Cairns Hospital.

“The vehicle driver was a woman in her 20s and she has been transported in a stable condition with pelvic pain, the motorcyclist was a male in his 40s in a serious but stable condition with significant leg injuries, and the person walking their bicycle was male in his 20s with pelvic and significant leg injuries and is in a serious condition.”

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said officers were in attendance at the incident.

“The Forensic Crash Unit has been called to the incident as it involves serious injuries,” he said.

“One lane is closed, there is a lot of traffic congestion and we ask drivers to seek an alternative route.”

Two fire crews were at the crash a Queensland Fire and Emergency Service representative said.

“We were called around 2.05pm,” he said.
