Cairns’ Best Hairdresser 2022: Amie Simm takes home the crown again

Cairns hairdressers have a loyal client base and it shows as a Smithfield stylist takes home the title of Cairns’ Best Hairdresser for another year. FIND OUT WHO

THE READERS have voted and crowned Cairns’ Best Hairdresser 2022.

Manager of Hair Boutique Co, Smithfield Amie Simm is now a two-time champion of the title having been previously crowned by the public in 2021.

Ms Simm said winning the award for the second time all came down to her clients.

“My key is to be myself with my clients, I don’t want to be too professional that I come across as a bore,” she said.

“All my clients have become friends and family for me because I’ve been myself and built up a rapport with them.

“I think I plugged my nomination a bit more last time, but I didn’t want to pester my clients again with the ‘please vote for me’ posts,” she said.

“Instead, I would just casually drop it into conversation that I was a finalist again and they’re all so supportive, that’s what has gotten me here.”

Ms Simm has been a hairdresser for almost 17 years, with a degree in hair colouring. She has worked at the Smithfield salon for 3.5 years.

Ms Simm said a highlight of her career was working at the LA Fashion Week in 2019.
