Teenager bashed in violent schoolyard attack

Shocking video has emerged of a 13-year-old girl allegedly being repeatedly attacked in a violent incident outside a rural Darwin school.

The girl was across the road from Taminmin College in Humpty Doo seeing friends when the alleged attack took place about 11am.

The video shows students punching the girl while she is pinned to the ground before a third kicks her repeatedly in the head.

“Let go of my hair you stupid f***ing s***,” one student yells.

The girl tries to defend herself while she is stomped on and her hair pulled.

Other students watch on and film the attack from several different angles as the girl is dragged along the ground.

After about 30 seconds, bystanders intervene and try to break up the fight.“Let’s go, that’s enough,” they can be heard saying.

As the fight ends, a student moves in and kicks the girl again while she lays on the ground.

The girl’s mother told the NT News she had removed her daughter from school after repeated unprovoked attacks since July.

“My kid’s mental health is no good at the moment,” she said.

“I’m scared that my daughter’s going to end up getting killed.

“It’s going to end up killing her.

“They’re breaking my child.”

The mum said her daughter had been targeted by the same group of students despite Taminmin College trying to separate her.

“They’re ruining people’s lives,” she said.

“Does my daughter have to die before something happens?

“I can’t even protect her.

“The system has failed.

“The school needs to have better systems in place.”

In a statement, the Education Department stated it was aware of the incident.

“The Department of Education does not condone bullying or harassment in any form within Territory schools,” a spokesman said.

“Every child within our education system has the right to be educated in a safe school environment free from bullying and harassment.

“Reducing physical, emotional and online bullying and harassment continues to be a core area of focus for the department.

“The department strongly condemns the sharing of any inappropriate behaviour on social media and reports any harmful material.”

The girl’s mother said she had reported the incident to police.
