Adelaide Fringe 2020 review: Tim Rogers: Liquid Nights in Bohemia Heights

Witty, warm and laugh-out-loud funny, Tim Rogers delivers the perfect night out.

Tim Rogers: Liquid Nights in Bohemia Heights

Music / VIC

Rating: ****1/2

Fortuna Spiegeltent, GOUD

Until February 26

He’s a flâneur, bon vivant and perhaps our last living rock star.

Tim Rogers, lead singer of You Am I, is also pretty good at hosting a radio program, a skill he puts to use on his Double J lunchtime stints and in his Fringe show Liquid Nights in Bohemian Heights.

Ostensibly, Liquid Nights is a radio show hosted by Rogers with a little help from his Foley artist and voiceover man.

There are cricket scores, lost and found announcements and a bit of talkback.

In reality though, it’s a vehicle for Rogers’ wit and warmth, and an excuse to get a couple of mates on stage to sing a song (in our case, comedian Frank Woodley and Bad//Dreems frontman Ben Marwe).

The dulcet tones of Melbourne duo Broads, both in backing Rogers when he’s singing and in performing their own songs, are also a true highlight.

Liquid Nights wraps up tonight, but should Tim decide to grace us with his presence next summer then I’d highly recommend grabbing a ticket.
