Police have released shocking footage of a male cyclist being hit by a car in a disturbing hit-and-run incident as they renew calls for the driver to come forward.
The cyclist had gone through an intersection on FE Walker Street in Kepnock, Bundaberg, just after 8am on November 27 when a white vehicle struck him.
The side of the car shoved the man to the ground in a fall that caused him several injuries, including a broken femur.
Police said the driver of the four-wheel drive station wagon involved in the incident slowed to a stop before leaving the scene without assisting the injured rider.
In a fresh appeal on Wednesday, police asked the public for help in identifying the driver and the vehicle involved.
Drivers in Queensland who fail to stop and assist after being involved in a traffic accident could be fined $2300.
Refusing to provide personal information to another person involved also carried a fine of at least $2000.
Cars must keep at least one metre between them and cyclist when travelling 60km/h or less, and 1.5m when the speed limit is more than 60km/h.
Motorists can be hit with three demerit points and a $413 fine for not observing the minimum distance when passing a cyclist.
If the matter goes to court, a maximum fine of more than $5500 can apply.
