Former Rob Lucas staffer Will Frogley has been appointed the new chief executive of the Master Builders Association.
Mr Frogley, who has been policy and communications director at the association for four years, will replace outgoing Ian Markos.
The Master Builders Association represents the building and construction industry – particularly subcontractors and small businesses.
He formerly managed the office of then-opposition treasury spokesman Rob Lucas for six years, as well as other jobs as a media adviser and a journalist.
He also sits on a number of construction and development related boards and committees, including an advisory group for the state’s planning reforms.
Mr Frogley said it was a difficult time to take the reigns but he was “proud to represent a fantastic industry”.
“More than any other industry, building and construction is going to be crucial to SA’s social and economic recovery from coronavirus,” Mr Frogley said.
“For the first time in 29 years Australia is in recession but I think, from my experience, when you are truly challenged is when you find out what you’re truly capable of.”
He said outgoing chief executive Ian Markos had been a “fantastic mentor” in industry and life in general.
“He’s given me the confidence to step up and be a leader for the industry in SA.”
Master Builders SA president Andrew Marshall said Mr Frogley was a “fantastic advocate for the building and construction industry and his appointment is thoroughly deserved”.
“His strong understanding of government, finance, economics, business and the media in particular will continue to be of great benefit to members,” Mr Marshall said.
Mr Frogley will begin in the role after Mr Markos retires on December 21.
