A Seaton man has received a seven month prison sentence for a year-long crime spree that stretched from Port Lincoln to Adelaide and resulted in 23 charges being brought against him.

William Stanley Hans Walker, 47, faced the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The court heard the first of the charges dated back to June 15 last year at Port Lincoln, when Walker was charged with two counts of driving not authorised after a drink driving disqualification.

The next offence occurred on August 16 last year, also at Port Lincoln, with Walker charged with the basic offence of dishonestly taking property without consent, for taking a backpack that was left at the front service counter at Coles.

On October 7 last year, Walker was charged with property damage and trespass.

”The victim was at home with her sister when she heard the defendant trying to enter (her property),” the police prosecutor said.

“They both yelled at him to go away. They heard a loud noise and the front window had been smashed.”

William Walker was found with a screwdriver, pliers and scissors at the Port Anchor Hotel.

A television worth $2000 was damaged in the incident.

On October 17 in 2020, Walker was charged with dishonestly taking property without consent, after being found with items he did not pay for at Mogas in Port Lincoln.

Then, on November 27 last year in Adelaide, Walker was charged with dishonestly taking property without consent after being seen taking off with a bike that was the property of SAPOL and worth $7000.

On February 9, at Port Adelaide, Walker was charged with possessing an article to commit an offence after being found at the Port Anchor Hotel with a screwdriver, two sets of pliers and a pair of scissors.

Walker was charged with unlawful possession and dishonestly dealing with property without consent after being found at Seaton with a backpack containing a bank card not in his name, medals and jewellery.

The police prosecutor said when asked about the property, Walker said he was not able to be interviewed “due to smoking too many cones”.

Walker also faced multiple breach of bail charges.

Defence for Walker said he was sorry for his actions.

“He feels great shame in his behaviour,” the defence lawyer said.

Magistrate Luke Davis said Walker’s extensive criminal history meant he was a poor prospect for rehabilitation.

“At your age, you haven’t learnt your lesson and keep on offending,” he said.

Walker plead guilty and was convicted on all counts. He received a seven month prison sentence, plus a three year driving disqualification.
