Two men were arrested over the weekend after an Uber driver was allegedly robbed at knifepoint at Ridleyton on Saturday morning.

Police were called to Blight St, Ridleyton just after 4.30am on Saturday, May 29 and located and arrested two suspects.

Appearing in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday, both Mohammad Mohammadi, 37, Pooraka, and Armin Nickhesal, 30, Croydon Park, were charged with aggravated robbery.

Bail applications were made for both of the defendants.

The court heard at the time of the alleged offending, Mohammadi was on a bail agreement, which had a curfew from 10pm to 7am.

“At 3.54am (on Saturday) the complainant in the matter, an Uber driver, received a call for a job at Pooraka,” the police prosecutor said.

The court heard during the trip, the Uber driver felt unsafe as Mohammadi allegedly berated him about the route they were taking to the Ridleyton address.

“The complainant called his friend, as he felt unsafe at the way the man (Mohammadi) was behaving,” the police prosecutor said.

Once the Uber arrived at the agreed destination, the court heard Nickhesal allegedly exited the house and held a knife to the neck of the Uber driver.

Nickhesal allegedly demanded money, with the Uber driver taking $30 out of his wallet and an iPhone was also taken from the car’s centre console.

“The complainant’s friend called the police on his behalf,” the police prosecutor said.

“At 4.54am, police attended Ridleyton and located two males who matched the driver’s description.”

A search warrant of the Ridleyton property was obtained and the driver’s iPhone was located and seized.

Defence for Mohammadi said the weekend’s event was the only time he had breached his bail conditions.

“He asked a friend to organise an Uber ride to get to a friend’s house,” the defence lawyer said.

“Apart from that, he has been compliant at all times and will continue to be compliant.”

Defence for Nickhesal said the charge against her client was contested.

Magistrate Jayanthi McGrath granted Mohammadi bail of $500 due to his limited record.

But Nickhesal was denied bail, due to the allegation he drew the knife on the driver.

Both men will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court for charge determination on September 1.
